Porcelain Crowns

When the size of a filling exceeds a certain proportion of the tooth, the filling must be replaced with a crown. Porcelain crowns look, amazingly natural.

A crown is a restoration that covers the whole of the tooth, commonly known as a cap. When a tooth is severely weakened, has a very large filling in it or broken, a crown is often the recommended treatment. Crowns can be all gold, or with porcelain bonded on top of the gold. These are still the strongest and by the way look just like your natural tooth.

The most modern crowns now use materials like zirconia which are white in colour and almost as durable as the porcelain fused to gold variety. There is a drawback however as these often require more tooth substance to be removed to make room for the crown. The advantage is that the appearance is, well, there is only one word for it and that is – WOW!!!!!!!!!
